Segment routes

RivEX can take routes (single polylines) and generate user defined segments and then sample along each segment. More advice on this tool is found in the manual.

A route is segmented into 500m length reaches and each segment is sampled at 50m intervals. A zoomed in section on reaches 6 and 7 show that the points are coded with distance along segment. Such output could be the framework for a walk over survey collecting habitat or geomorphic data at defined locations. Upload this data to your preferred mobile mapping software and take advantage of your devices inbuilt GPS to locate you precisely at you your spot check. Tag your field data with the reach ID and its easy to map your results to the network for further analysis or modelling.
